Dr. Nicole Carbonaro graduated with honors from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Sciences; later she received her doctorate from the Illinois College of Optometry as a part of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society and graduated Cum Laude.

She received training at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital Eye Center and James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in ocular disease management along with post-operative care of cataract and laser eye surgeries. She gained experience in specialty contact lenses while at Vision Care Specialists and performed functional vision exams at Spectrios Institute for Low Vision. While training at the Illinois Eye Institute, she acquired extensive knowledge in vision therapy, along with pediatric and geriatric eye care. Through her externships she has gained a wide knowledge base of eyecare including glaucoma management, diabetic eye care and urgent care.

Dr. Carbonaro is a member of the American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association, and American Academy of Optometry. While completing her education at the Illinois Eye Institute, she participated in clinical research pertaining to how digital device use affects dry eye symptoms. Her clinic interests include dry eye management, fitting contact lenses, and participating in the care of patients in all age groups.
